Prior to graduate school, I was an analyst at NORC at the University of Chicago, where I researched forced labor in garment supply chains in South Asia and land-use and forest governance in West Africa. I was also a Fulbright scholar in Londrina, Paraná, Brazil, where I led an independent research project on the social barriers to the prevention of herbicide-resistant weeds.
As an undergrad at Northwestern University, I was the recipient of the Circumnavigators Travel-Study Grant, which took me (literally) around the world to study the political, economic, and cultural context of agricultural biotechnology in Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Ghana, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
In my spare time I enjoy exploring nature, trying new foods, running, rock climbing, and reading books in one of Madison's many lakeside parks.
