I am an applied economist studying the interactions between agricultural systems, people, and the environment.
My research examines how and why farmers respond to policies by public- and private-sector actors, and the implications of these behaviors for conservation, productivity, and human wellbeing. I rely on a combination of econometric methods, 'big' data, and in-depth field interviews. My current research focuses on the cattle sector in Brazil, specifically the mediators and indirect effects of policies that aim to mitigate modern slave labor and deforestation.
I am a doctoral candidate and NSF Graduate Research Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I am pursuing a joint Ph.D. in Environment & Resources and Agricultural & Applied Economics. I am part of the interdisciplinary Global Land Use and Environment Lab.
